Jim and Laura Farrell are the husband and wife team musically known as Guinness. They are well known by the friends of the Harp and Thistle as they performed there annually for many many years when they came down to Florida from Canada. Also, they have been entertaining audiences throughout North America and Ireland since 1981. Their repertoire consists mainly of traditional and contemporary Irish, Scottish and Maritime music played on a variety of instruments including guitar, 5-string banjo, fiddle, mandolin and tin whistle, as well as two strong vocals.
Based in Prince Edward Island, Canada, their musical travels have taken them all over North America. From Newfoundland to Ontario in Canada and in New York State, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas and Florida in the United States. They have also had the pleasure of traveling and performing in Ireland.
The duo's venues include concert halls, pubs, educational venues and festivals and their ability to adapt to any type of
atmosphere makes for an enjoyable experience for all audiences.
Joining them for their PEI performances is their youngest son, Paddy. Playing the bodhran, sharing vocals and occasionally breaking into an Irish step dance, he is a welcome addition to the group.
