Greetings friends of Sacred Lands! We are in the process of planning our 2008/2009 events and after a quiet year last year are hoping to have more opportunities to see you this year. The new roof is on the greenhouse and the space will enable us to have more options. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all who were part of that transformation! We also are looking for volunteers. The mix of activities being discussed includes such things as music and entertainment, archaeology events, Native American and indigenous cultures, and personal growth workshops. If you are interested in being a part of our group of volunteers please call me and leave a message. I'll call you back at my soonest convenience. The number is (727)430-0388. The following is a list of upcoming activities. Also keep us in mind if you or someone you know is planning a wedding. The Community Drum meets the first Monday of the month, so the next drum is today, Sept. 1, starting at PM at Sacred Lands, 1700 Park Street, N. in St. Petersburg. Please park in the large parking lot next door. The gate will be open. For more information you can contact: Saundra Hunt (727) 744-9978 or Allen Hollingshead (727) 519-8236.The October Drumming will be on Monday, October 6th at 7:00PM *SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER EVENTS AT SACRED LANDS* PEACE MEDITATION CIRCLES: Every other Wednesday throughout the year. September 3rd and September 17th. October 1st, October 15th and October 29th. The circles follow a format with group introductions, a contemplative reading followed by a 20 minute period of silent meditation. The talking stick is passed after the meditation and people who would like to share may do so. This is a chance to focus on learning and teaching about being at peace within and without. During the warm months we sit on the deck by the bay; during cooler months we sit around the sweat lodge fire. If you haven't come before consider joining us; if it's been a while since you were here, please come again. And for all you regulars see you soon. 7:00 PM PERUVIAN EARTH HONORING TEACHING AND MEDITATION: Wednesdays once a month. September 10th and October 8th. One of the missions of Sacred Lands is to honor all cultures. Once a month we are led by Bonnie Dhonau in an earth honoring ceremony. Bonnie has been studying with Peruvian Oscar Miro-Quesada for over 10 years and brings a teaching each month as well as guides the group through a meditation focused on healing of the earth. People from all faiths can benefit from these gatherings. The major objective is to build a community of earth honoring stewards.7:30 PM SUNDAY AFTERNOON TOURS OF SACRED LANDS ARE NOW AVAILABLE EVERY SUNDAY THROUGHOUT THE FALL AT 4:00 PM. call Erik at (727)432-9271 to reserve a spot.
